We offer online Gaming, Crafting and Shared Interest Activities for autistic girls ages 7-18

Wish you could come to an Appeer in person Group or prefer to connect with us Online?  Look no further!  You can join us Online from ANYWHERE!

We are piloting a new format for our Online Sessions for autistic girls and teens.  We're starting with alternating weeks for our Girls and Teens.

Each week Nicki our Social Interest Manager may do a Roblox or Minecraft build and share session, a Craft Session alongside Caitlin our Youth Facilitator or a crafty Chill and Chat session with Casey our Neurodiversity Facilitator.

Who are the Sessions for?

Our online sessions offer a valuable chance for autistic girls to connect with their peers.

What is the aim of the Sessions?

We aim for the Sessions to enable the girls to:

  • Share positive social interactions in a pressure-free, supportive setting or to work alone if desired
  • Take part in a collaborative session, to share tips and build together or simply play alongside each other
  • Join a cohort which often remains similar in each session
  • Benefit from a hidden curriculum promoting SEMH and wellbeing

What will happen in each Session and how long will it be?

Online Crafting Session-  The Session will start with a welcome. Girls/Teens will enjoy a crafting activity, facilitated by Nicki ( Social Interest Manager) and Caitlin ( Youth Facilitator).  Full joining instructions will be sent beforehand with a visual timetable.

Online Chill and Chat Crafting Session-  The Session will start with a welcome. Girls/Teens will enjoy a crafting activity, facilitated by Nicki ( Social Interest Manager) and  Casey (Neurodiversity Facilitator).  Full joining instructions will be sent beforehand with a visual timetable.

Roblox Format   – The Session will start with  a welcome.  Nicki will set up her own server and girls are invited to either play on that server or play on their own.  Girls can share tips/tricks and have a discussion about what they enjoy or simply play alongside.  There is no pressure to have your camera on or mic on.  The Session will last approximately 1 hour and is supported by Nicki and Caitlin.

Minecraft Format – The Session will start with  a welcome. Nicki will share group guidelines and the build challenge for the session, e.g. “Can you build an aquarium?” with examples.  The girls can then get started on their builds, with Nicki and Caitlin providing support, tips and encouragement around their builds and facilitating conversation around shared interests to support connections.  The Session often includes a short autism related activity (optional) at the end. The Session will last approximately 75 minutes and is supported by Nicki our Social Interest Manager

Where will the Sessions be held?

The Sessions all take place on Zoom.  You will be sent a link before the Session so you can join.
